How did he find his niche? What made him one of the richest people in the United States today?
When finding ones’ niche in the IT Industry, it’s important to ask yourself a few questions. Here are just a few examples:
- What are you most passionate about?
Is it Networking, Software Development, Help Desk, etc.?
- How much time are you willing to invest to become the IT professional you want to be?
It takes time to learn, and sometimes a LOT of self-study is required to reach that next level in your career.
- What is your competition?
There are some very smart IT professionals in the workplace, what sets you above and beyond the rest?
Know your skills, your limitations, and don’t be afraid to ask questions if necessary
- Don’t be afraid to get in there and do it!
It’s important to have the educational foundation to do what you are trained to do, but even more important to complete hands on training to stay proficient in your field.
Finding your niche can take time, but when you do find it, great things will follow. Who knows? Maybe one day you’ll make an outstanding contribution that will stand the test of time.
