Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) are required by non-for-profit hospitals and other healthcare entities such as FQHCs, Public Health Departments and alike. A systematic process is used to create a Community Health Needs Assessment.
The process focuses on involving the community and identifying key stakeholders to identify and analyze the needs of the community and gain an understanding of the resources that are available and those that may be needed to address the unmet needs of the community. Although these healthcare entities have been complying with the regulation and completing the assessment, not all are using the results of this valuable work to the full extent.
