Hospitals are no longer constrained by traditional C-Suite titles. Often a traditional CMO, CFO or CIO is asked to focus on a specific sometimes narrower area or might be asked to broaden their skill set. A VP of Managed Care might be asked to move into a Chief Population Health Officer role. Or the hospital’s CIO might be transferred to a CMIO position. Or the CNO might now be the Chief Experience Officer (CXO). Times are changing and it might be helpful to review some of the newest positions at hospitals and determine whether they are career enhancing or a career dead-end.
